Ahhotep I, Guardian of the Two Lands

Ahhotep I was a formidable protector of her people during Egypt’s struggle against the Hyksos. As wife of King Seqenenre Tao and mother to Kings Kamose and Ahmose, she was central to the liberation efforts. Ahhotep not only spurred her sons to battle but also actively participated in organizing armies and is even credited with pioneering the use of the war chariot.

This artwork depicts Ahhotep symbolically “donating” her husband and two sons to Egypt, a profound visualization of their sacrifice. She wears a necklace adorned with a war chariot, emphasizing her military connection. King Seqenenre Tao, enveloped in linen, signifies his death in battle. He’s flanked by Kings Kamose and Ahmose, holding royal symbols of power, all united within a gilded war chariot.

Ahhotep’s unwavering dedication to Egypt’s survival makes her an exemplary figure for ‘2025 the Year of the Defender of the Homeland’ exhibition, a true beacon of courage and resilience.

A Queen & A Mother

A fierce battle is fought far from the front line,

Inside my heart and within my mind.

Tormented with grief but yet filled with much pride.

A wife who has just buried a husband and off sent a child.

The elder came back in a coffin, and now the youngest must abide.

All precious gifts to my beloved land I have sacrificed.

For I am Ahhotep, a wife and a mother of conquering heroes immortalized. 

أياح حتب: الأم التي صاغت دفاع الأمة

كانت أياح حتب حامية لشعبها في فترة الصراع الدائر في مصر القديمة ضد الهكسوس، بصفتها زوجة الملك سقنن رع تاعو ووالدة الملكين كامس وأحمس. كان دورها محوريًا في جهود التحرير، حيث لم تكتفِ بتشجيع أبنائها على القتال فحسب، بل شاركت بنشاط في تنظيم الجيوش، ويُعزى إليها الفضل في ريادة استخدام العربة الحربية.

يُصور هذا العمل الفني أياح حتب وهي تهدي زوجها وابنيها لمصر، في تجسيدٍ رمزي للتضحية من أجل الوطن. ترتدي أياح حتب قلادة مزينة برمز العجلة الحربية، بينما يظهر الملك سقنن رع تاعو ملفوفًا في لفائف الكتان، دلالة على استشهاده في المعركة. يُحيط به الملكان كامس وأحمس، اللذان يحملان رموز القوة الملكية، وجميعهم متحدون داخل عجلة حربية مذهبة.

إن تفاني وتضحيات أياح حتب في سبيل تحرير مصر من سطوة الهكسوس يجعل منها شخصية نموذجية في معرض “2025 عام المدافع عن الوطن”، ومنارة حقيقية للشجاعة والصمود

الملكة والأم

فِي أَعْماقِ عَقْلِي، وَصَميمِ فُؤَادِي

تَدُورُ رَحى حَرْبٍ ضَروسِ الوِقَادِ

مُعَذَّبَةٌ بِالحُزْنِ وَلَكِنَّنِي،

وَإِنِ انْهَمَرْتُ دُمُوعِي، يَمْلَؤُنِي الفَخَارُ

زَوْجَةُ مَنْ قَدْ غَابَ فِي أَكْفَانِهِ،

وَوَدَّعَتْ بِالدُّعَاءِ بِكْرًا لِلْجِهَادِ

عَادَ الكَبيرُ مُغَلَّفًا فِي تَابُوتٍ،

وَالآنَ عَلَى الصَّغِيرِ لَمُّ الرِّحَالِ

هِبَاتِيَ كَانَتْ أَغْلَى الهِبَاتِ،

مِنْ أَجْلِ أَرْضٍ عَزِيزَةِ الأَسْيَادِ

أَنَا “إِيَاحْ حِتِبْ”، الزَّوْجَةُ، الأُمُّ،

لِمُنْتَصِرَيْنِ… صَانِعِي الأَمْجَاد
